Originally formed under a different name, Snow Patrol officially adopted its iconic moniker three years after its inception. Today, frontman and founding member Gary Lightbody remains at the helm. Hailing proudly from Dundee, Scotland – a city about half the size of Ostrava – Lightbody leads a band that has amassed an impressive catalogue of hits and performed over a thousand live shows. And yet, they’ve never played in the Czech Republic – until now. Snow Patrol will debut at Colours of Ostrava 2025, headlining the main stage with their latest album, The Forest Is the Path.
Their journey to international fame began with their third album, Final Straw, their debut release on a major label. Tracks like Run, Chocolate, and Spitting Games have since become staples of their repertoire. The collaboration with producer Jacknife Lee proved so successful that the band teamed up with him again for their next release. Two years later, they delivered Eyes Open, a record that skyrocketed their popularity, largely thanks to the smash hit Chasing Cars.
Originally released in 2006 to support the album, Chasing Cars quickly cemented its place in music history as the most-played track on British radio of the decade. Its simple yet haunting melody and memorable opening lines, “If I lay here…” captivated audiences and kept it on heavy rotation for years. Remarkably, Snow Patrol defended their title a decade later, outplaying anthems like I Gotta Feeling and Happy.
You won’t need to cross the Channel this summer to hear it live. For the first time, Snow Patrol will bring their timeless anthems and electrifying energy to Ostrava. Don’t miss this historic performance – your chance to witness one of the UK’s most beloved bands in their long-overdue Czech debut.
