The upcoming 22nd edition of Colours of Ostrava is unveiling exciting updates, including the complete lineup for the popular Full Moon Stage. Curated by the Full Moon magazine team, the stage promises a vibrant mix of both local and international talent.
The stage's programming continues to break conventional boundaries, offering an innovative perspective on music across genres. The stage will feature Slovak rappers like Saul and Fvck_kvlta, alongside guitar-driven acts such as Island Mint and Chief Bromden, as well as the more intimate music of Nikol Bóková and Mabe Fratti. International performers include the American group Mourning [A] BLKstar, Kenyan collective Kabeaushé, the Spanish duo Los Sara Fontan, and British artist Heartworms.
This year marks the 11th collaboration between Full Moon magazine and Colours of Ostrava. "We aim to curate a unique mosaic that not only reflects current music trends but also anticipates them, connecting the best of the local scene with carefully selected international acts. In recent years, we've also focused on showcasing domestic performers in exclusive, never-before-seen formats. A prime example is this year's performance by Kill Your Rap Idols, set to take place for only the second time in history. On stage, you’ll witness the best of Slovakia's underground rap scene, including Fvck_Kvlt, Dušan Vlk, Berlin Manson, Paris, and Temný Rudo," says Michal Pařízek, editor-in-chief of Full Moon. He adds, "Among the international names, we’re particularly excited to feature British artist Heartworms, whose debut album Glutton for Punishment has received rave reviews, as well as the spectacular Afrofuturist collective Mourning [A] BLKstar, whose music blends live instrumentation with hip-hop production and gospel, funk, and soul influences."
Pařízek also points out that both Heartworms and Mourning [A] BLKstar will make their Czech debuts at Colours of Ostrava, along with other performers: "I believe that the discerning audience at Colours of Ostrava will truly appreciate the performance by the relatively unknown Portuguese group Sereias, who uniquely blend the intensity of bands like Swans with playful, energetic free jazz influences from names like Sun Ra Arkestra and anarchistic poetry. Similarly, the unconventional production of the Catalan duo Los Sara Fontan, based on improvisation, will also be something special. Equally remarkable will be Nikol Bóková's performance, where she will present a program based on her album Expedition with her quartet."
The Full Moon Stage lineup also brings several other standout acts. On Thursday, the stage will host the Czech-French audiovisual project Axontorr in its open-air debut, along with Guatemalan cellist Mabe Fratti. Friday’s program will feature R&B singer Erika Rein, whose debut Kamibe earned three nominations at the Radio_Head Awards, along with Slovak singer Saul, who uniquely blends rap and R&B. The local scene will be represented by melancholic band Island Mint, winners of the Czeching Radio Wave competition. The winners of the Vinyla Award for Discovery of the year 2024, Pilsen four-piece Ida The Young, will also perform, and other highlights include singer-songwriter Kvietah, Nina Kohout, Dutch dance-punk sensation Baby Berserk, and Viktor Ori, whose album Lepsie nebolo nikdy dobre nebude was one of last year's most praised releases.
